TNB REMACO ventures into power plant O&M in India- 4 April 2017

TENAGA Nasional Bhd (TNB)- Via its wholly own subsidiary, TNB Repair And Maintenance Sdn. Bhd. (TNB REMACO) – has ventured into power plant operations and maintenance (O&M) in India.

             TNB president and CEO Datuk Seri Azman Mohd said the venture was in line with its international expansion plans by leveraging on its strategic equity holding in GMR Energy Ltd (GEL).

            “India is emerging as a bright spot in the global economy and we are talking a long term view to create a strong foothold and maximize opportunities inherent in the Indian power industry”, he said.

             Under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) inked with GEL yesterday, TNB REMACO and GEL would provide the power plant O&M, performance improvement, testing and diagnostic services. Both parties have the option to extend the (MoU) through a mutual written agreement.

              TNB said prior to the establishment of the facility in India, refurbishment works were performed by TNB REMACO at its facility in Malaysia.

             Last November, TNB completed its 30% acquisition of Indian power company GEL from GMBR Infrastructure Ltd for US$300 million (RM1.33 billion)- TMR
